Cities II: emerging from the void
Series of sculptures
Steel and iron
Year 2025
Maximum series dimensions: 40 x 40 x 11 cm
The void is much more than an absence: it is a space full of potential. This project addresses the urban void as both a physical and emotional phenomenon. Inspired by Simone Weil, who argued that “absence allows for the entry of grace,” the sculptures here represent the interstitial spaces that connect past and future, allowing new realities to emerge.
The use of the void as a central element engages with Heidegger's philosophy: “The void is not nothing but the place where something may emerge.” The pieces highlight how urban spaces, often alienating, simultaneously offer the opportunity to reconnect with our roots and project renewed futures.
