The face and the truth

This photographic project explores the face as a symbol of identity, transformation, and truth. Inspired by Gadamer's phenomenology and hermeneutics, the series addresses how the human face reflects the multiplicity of realities and circumstances that shape each individual. The face is simultaneously presence and movement: it changes every day, never the same as yesterday nor tomorrow.
In these compositions, the face is presented as a silhouette captured in backlight, merging the concrete with the abstract. The technique evokes the inkblots of the Rorschach test, where each observer projects their own interpretation, turning the artwork into a constant dialogue between the truth of the viewer and the truth emanating from the image.
The face cannot be separated from identity or the inherent dignity of the human being. It stands as a testament to existence and an invitation to reflect on who we are and how we see ourselves. Truth, as Gadamer says, “happens in dialogue,” and in this case, the dialogue takes place between the viewer and the image, allowing a unique and personal experience of truth to emerge.
This project seeks to capture and preserve the essential connection between the face, identity, and truth, reminding us that, despite constant change, an enduring essence always remains.
