With this series, I seek to capture the silent echo of past civilizations. These works evoke abandoned places, ruins that were once vibrant centers of life. Traces of humanity in its wake. Solitude.

In these paintings, material becomes memory. The textures, fractured forms, and blurred lines allude to the fragility of what has been built in the face of time’s passage. Inspired by reflections such as Walter Benjamin’s thoughts on ruins as containers of collective memory. These series map out a visual terrain of spaces consumed by oblivion, but that still hold traces of meaning.

The title Abandoned Vestiges highlights the paradox of what is visible and what is lost: the fragments that remain of what was once whole. Each piece becomes an exploration of transience, of decay as an inevitable process that reveals the deeper layers of a place and its history.

For me, these works are not merely landscapes of an abandoned space or structure, but emotional landscapes where the viewer can momentarily dwell, reflecting on emptiness and absence. The vestiges here do not seek to be reborn; they remain as ruins, as indelible marks of a person, of a society that fades, yet whose essence continues to speak through the space it left behind.

I would like to invite the viewer to contemplate what remains when everything is gone.
