This mural is a visual exploration of change as the essence of life. Through a circular composition, it evokes the idea of natural and human cycles: growth, transformation, and rebirth. Inspired by philosophical references ranging from Plato to existentialism and humanistic psychology, the piece represents the soul’s journey in its search for knowledge, authenticity, and fulfilment.
The visual elements reinforce this vision. The Moon and its phases symbolize constant evolution, while the growing female figure reflects both physical and spiritual development. The weeping willow tree, with its apparent fragility, embodies resilience in the face of change. Water and the sea, present throughout the work, suggest fluidity, adaptability, and the vastness of human experience.
The mural is not only a reflection of individual transformation but also a connection to the Earth’s own cycles of change. It invites the viewer to recognize that existence is a cyclical process where, as in nature, renewal is the only constant.
As a collective work, each artist sought to express something unique. For me, the mural dialogues with Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis in its depiction of change as an inevitable process, often beyond the individual’s control. While Kafka presents a sudden and alienating transformation, this work proposes a harmonious, cyclical, and natural metamorphosis—one in tune with human nature and the rhythms of the Earth.
Change is the only certainty of existence, whether imposed or chosen. The mural invites the viewer to embrace life as a constant flow of experiences, where rebirth is always possible.
